We too are here to serve.

Jesus in Mark 10:45 made a statement that speaks clearly to our hearts and has laid the foundation for ReCreation since its beginning in 1990. This scripture lays the foundation for ReCreation outreach and service to our neighbors. Jesus words are clear “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served; he came to serve and to give his life to redeem many people.” One of the early building blocks for the ministry that is ReCreation is the simple understanding that service cannot be done with an agenda or an attitude of “quid pro quo”. We do not serve the program or the camp; we serve our neighbors in need without expectation of gaining anything in return except the knowledge and understanding that we are following the example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We give and love because, as 1 John 4:19 tells us, “We love because He first loved us”..

The Book of John in the 13th Chapter verses 1-17 has the account of Christ washing the feet of the disciples. In that moment Jesus took on the role of the Doulos, the Bond Servant , the lowest servant of the house. His example is now our charge. To serve, to love and to give as unconditionally as grace, forgiveness and compassion have been given to us.

It is our opportunity to be examples of Christ to “Share Christ Through Our Service”
